Department of Quindio is located in Colombia, Suramerica. It is a central region of the country, a 25 minute air flight from Bogota and Medellin and it is part of the area recognized as Eje cafetero.
Quindio has an international airport and excellent access roads that connect it with the center, northern and southern parts of the country. The principal activity is agricultural, production, especially coffee and plantain cultivation like citrus fruits, yucca, fruits, avocado and sugar cane complement this economic activity.
Since the 90s Quindio has been a popular destination based on the great infrastructure derived from the coffee and the landscape. Now coffee farms offer hotel service and more than 25 natural and artificial sights to see ,and that is why there is an increase of visitors from other regions of Colombia and the world.
The main tourist attraction is Parque del Cafe which has more than 30 attractions and its a thematic development at the height of the best thematic parks in the world. The same area lies Panaca which is a park with farm animals. The park presents shows during the day.
Recuca, Quindio botanic garden ,Parque de los Arrieros, Balsaje, rafting, canopy, cocora's valley , parachute, etc are part of Quindio's entertainment.
In 2012, UNESCO declared Quindio's landscape a historic landmark.
Quindio's territory enjoys warm weather, friendly people and the region presents different kinds of food.
A modern convention center has enabled Armenia in the las years to be changed into an important platform to make national and international events and new business.
